Stools are usually associated with bars.

Today there are many types of stools, however, years ago we could only see them without a backrest and without armrests. For many, it was more like an uncomfortable chair.

Basic questions

Before we start with the 4 tips for choosing stools for your home, let’s tackle some basic questions. As we have mentioned, stools are a type of chair or seat that normally have neither armrests nor backrests.

It is also narrow and high, making it ideal for places with little space. One of the advantages and particularities of the stools is that they fit perfectly under the bar, thus saving space and preventing them from obstructing the passage. Of course, over the years we find more stylish, modern, and functional stools. Purchase bar stools online

Which can, and should, be an insight as they add aesthetic value to the room. On the other hand, stools are a type of chair used, as we have said before, in bars, but also in houses whose kitchens have an L or U shape and in which, in addition, there is an island or bar.

Surely you have also seen stools in craft workshops, art studios or clothing workshops.

With all this, what we mean is that the stool is a functional and valid piece for any space. This is the reason why it has evolved, to cover even more areas. For example, it is also common to see stools in living rooms, dressing rooms, or dressing tables.  (Choosing Stools At Home)

4 basic tips for choosing the perfect stool

The advice when choosing stools is logical, but it never hurts to remember them and keep them in mind so as not to “screw up”.

1. What do I need the stool for?

The first advice is to think about the function that you are going to give to the stool. Depending on what you want it for, you will have to choose one type or another.

For example, if you want it as an extra chair for when guests come to your house, the ideal is to choose folding stools.

If you want it as a fixed chair on the bar or island of your kitchen and you plan to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner there, it is recommended that the stool have at least a backrest to make it more comfortable.

Another example is that if you want it for your workshop the best thing is a rotary stool and that its height can be modulated. In this way, you will work more comfortably and you can adapt it to each of your tasks.

2. Where am I going to put it

Being clear about where you are going to place it is essential when choosing the stool since the size and height will influence the decision.

It is necessary that you take into account the size of the bar or island where you are going to put it if it is in the kitchen so that you know how many stools fit you.

On the other hand, the height of the bar or island is essential. If the measurements fail, choosing the ideal stool could be a failure.

The idea is that all diners are comfortable. Hence also the importance of choosing, as far as possible, stools with adjustable height.

This option of stools is great for houses with children and also so that guests, depending on their height, can adjust them.

3. The decoration style

On numerous occasions we have emphasized the importance of harmony in a room. For there to be harmony, the elements must fit together, without this meaning that they have to be the same.

For example, if the decoration of your kitchen is modern, the stools that would best fit the set would be minimalist, with simple and straight lines.

If instead your kitchen is industrial or rustic, choose wooden or steel stools.

4. Types of material

Stools, being such a versatile and functional element, can be found in various materials. The choice of material is determined by the place where we are going to place them.

For example, if we are going to place them in the kitchen we will have to take into account that they must be resistant to grease stains or temperature fluctuations (refrigerator, oven, stove, etc.)

Although it may not appear, this can damage the material. If we want stools for our workshop, they must also be resistant. For example, wood or metal would be ideal.
